Rise above depression

Depression is a serious problem, and to many people it can be literally disabling. Although there is no magic cure for depression, counselling (combined in some cases with medication) can help people experiencing depression learn how to respond to it so that it does not keep them from accomplishing their life goals.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of different cures, remedies, and approaches to deal with depression. I match research-proven therapies and intervention ideas to your specific situation to help find solutions that will be the most effective for you. You won’t be cured overnight; in fact, I’ll be honest with you, it’s possible that depression may come and go for the rest of your life. But together, we can learn the tools and patterns that keep it at bay and prevent it from taking over your life.

Therapies I use

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has more research and evidence backing it up than any other form of therapy. In other words, it works. CBT works by helping to uncover and replace the thoughts and beliefs in your mind that tend to drive you to do things that you don’t want to do. I have seen CBT create powerful, positive changes in the lives of many of my clients.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy looks at the painful or unwanted thoughts and feelings in your life as inevitable, and tries to change the mindset from constantly struggling with them, to accepting that they exist and then committing to do what is important to you, not what the thoughts and feelings are urging you to do. Many of my clients have found this approach life-changing, as they learn to stop struggling and start living.
